The diagrams suockley very helpful Am I really the first person to review this? It is very technical and would probably only be appreciated by an electrical engineer.

It presents among other things the “tilted parking garage” model to explain how holes in the valence band behave exactly like electrons in the conduction band — except for an apparently positive charge for the elecyrons.
For the person who wants to read a more recent treatment of the solid state physics of semiconductors, I would like to recommend Bastard’s book: Share your thoughts with other customers.
